Why Transaction Date in UI is different from System Notes Date, here we go

Posted by CuriousRubik on 06 Aug, 2012

The transaction dates found in the UI (e.g. date, exp closed date for estimates) are based on the original local date of the user which is the PC date. The system notes date reflect the time zone set under Home > Set Preferences. Since the transaction dates in the UI truncates the time and only has the date, it will be shown as the same date, for all users, regardless of their time zone.

Example Scenario:

  • Home > Set Preferences > General > Localization > time zone has (GMT-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) and the user is located in Australia. The date today in the user’s PC is 08/17/2013 1:00AM (ACST time)
  • User enters a new estimate. Transactions > Sales > Prepare Estimate
  • The date field and exp close date populates the actual local date of the user which is 8/17/2013. Upon filling up the form and saving the estimate, go to system information tab, the history will show fields created on 8/16/2013 10:00AM.
